I spent a joyful week-end at Serenbe, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia (an 825 mile drive from Portage - but, who's counting?). Nine of us gathered and took a week-end of classes from Catherine Moore (an excellent artist and teacher, a delightful person; take a class from her if you get the opportunity). I am posting photos from Serenbe and of three of the four class projects (I still have to put the finishing touches on my Silhouettes class pieces, so am not posting them). We made an alphabet book, Nature Tags (OK, I made FAMILY tags, but it was still pretty nature oriented), and we made a nesting box (with real quail eggs, that Catherine provided for us). All in all, it was a great weeke-end, which will give me lots to think about on the long drive home tomorrow.

Oooh, what fun! Everyone's projects look GREAT! I would have loved being there, seeing everyone, and making great artwork!

OK, Josie, I'm assuming that the photos on the steps are of everyone's works, not just yours. Until I read your blog, I thought the nesting boxes were shrines, so I expecially like the nesting box idea as it frees me from any of that "thou shalt not put false gods before me" guilt that should be totally irrelevant to art but proves suprisingly sticky.
Are the ladies in the nesting boxes the paper dolls you made? I didn't see them discussed in your blog, but for some reason I thought you made some.
I bet you did both the Nature and the Family things and I liked them both. It's neat you were able to adapt the project to a different theme like that.
Drive safely!

really really cool projects Joanne. That's a lot of different things you got to make! Your alphabet book looks super, and your "nest" - it is to die for!...i bet you go home and make more of these!
