THREE MORE CROWNS

I made some more crowns: one for Kris, who won the drawing for one (the pink job on the left); one for Mette for a late birthday present (the other pink one); one for Ann for a birthday present (a red one, I forgot to take a photo of); and I'm submitting the blue one for publication. I have sent off Kris's crown to California and Mette's crown to Denmark; I delivered Ann's crown to her in person (she likes it :} ) and I have submitted the first one I made and the blue one for publication. I guess it's time to start making more...I want to thank Catherine Warner for modeling the crowns for me.

FOR ISABEL

My friend Vicki has a niece who is interested in mixed media and altered books. Vicki asked friends to make a pocket page for Isabel. I'm not in the pocket RR, but I figured I should be able to make a page. Easier said than done, but here is my effort.

QUEEN FOR MORE THAN A DAY

I  used a random number generator (left over from OWOH) to get a winner for my drawing for a crown and the winner is Kris Henderson.

TRANSITION GOTHIC ARCH

Karen Owen invited people to enter the Gothic Arches challenge with the theme of "transition" (she is the guest host for this round). I've been intrigued by her Gothic Arch pieces and decided this was a good time for me to give it a try. I decided to use an image of my older daughter as a dragon hatchling.

My friend Shirley McCutcheon makes beautiful layered transparencies and has published instructions and examples in Somerset Studio and Somerset Legacy (or Memories, or whatever it's called now). She was supposed to come visit this week-end, but had to cancel (considering the high this weekend was around 24 and Shirley is from Alabama, she will probably be a lot more comfortable when she reschedules her visit in the spring or summer) . A group of fellow Michigan artists were going to gather at my house today and Shirley was going to teach us her technique. We decided to gather anyway, even if Shirley wasn't here and we decided to try her technique by following the directions in her article. This acted as incentive for me to clean up and organize my sun porch studio and I was able to accommodate 7 people, happily creating a wide range of transparencies. I foolishly let people leave without taking photos of their art, but I include a scan of mine below.Layeredtransparencyangel_3 I've also included a photo of my [at least for now] tidy studio and of 5 of my friends (Susan, Catherine, Angela, Lynn and Beth).
