ART & SOUL REPORT #1
On Tuesday, I left my house to go to Medina, Ohio to Lou McCullough's. She took me to a delightful tea room for lunch, to Hollo's to buy paper (because, of course, you can never have too much paper) and to Pat Cattans, to buy cool art supplies and objects (because I need more stuff). I met Tom, her wonderful husband and we had a great dinner at her son and daughter-in-law's. I felt like I was visiting old friends. On Wednesday, we left at 6 a.m. for Hampton. We talked for the entire 10 hour ride. Lou is such a cool lady!
Today I took Traci Bunkers' Uber Self-Portrait class, which I thoroughly enjoyed. After class, there was socializing with friends (heck, there was socializing with friends, during class, too). Thirteen of us went out to dinner at Red Lobster. This is obviously going to be a retreat filled with fun, food, friends, and great times as well as art.
Below is a photo of me and my self-portrait ("Picture of the Artist As an Old Woman").
Your portrait turned out fabulous! This must be such an awesome class because I've always loved the work I've seen from every artist who has taken it. Hope you did well at vendor night too!

You know, Josie, I really like the photo of you WITH the oversized portrait and I can see the resemblence. Mine is hiding behind the sofa right now and you are right that the color thing bugs me a little still. But I think it was a great exercise. I look forward to seeing the portraits of Annie and Becky you plan to make for Dean.

Your portrait is unbelievable -- an excellent likeness, given the stylization! (I didn't notice the pink dots on your face when we met up in Ohio!) It sounds like this is totally fabulous. I'm thrilled for you!

Love your self portrait! Honestly, it is fabulous! I am so jealous right now, but I'm glad you are having such a wonderful time. Just try not to rub it in too much.
