Inspired by the December/January 2011 issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry (page 24, article by Cindy Wimmer), I decided to start a round robin necklace with four friends who make great jewelry (frankly, they're all better jewelry artists than I am, but they had to let me play, it was my idea). Instead of sending a formal journal about making the necklaces as the artists in the article did, I decided to ask each participant to enclose a 3.5x5 notecard with information about the necklace to document the provenance of our final product. For my card about my necklace, I gave my theme and [very loose] instructions to the participants along with a scan of the starting piece. I started with a simple part of chain, thinking that I can always add focal points or extra things when my necklace comes back home. We are all to make about 5 inches of necklace for each other.

I sent my necklace off to Brittney, excited about what I will see at the end of its journey.
I received Beth's necklace without notecard or written instructions ( gentle reminder to Beth...), but with verbal instructions. She started off with her focal point and wants people to work up from it.

It's full of beautiful bling and a lovely palette. I have been working on it (made one chain, didn't like it the next day and disassembled it) and have finally come up with a bit of necklace that I think fits in with Beth's taste and palette.

This is as challenging as I thought it would be and I look forward to working on all the necklaces this coming year.
