I'm pretty sure our delightful Indian Summer is gone and we're headed for gray, dreary November weather into winter. Yesterday, I went to South Haven with a friend and took some pictures of the empty docks. I think the photo below captures the feeling of the month.
So, I've been keeping myself busy inside (a mug of hot cider by my side) sewing. I'm still making Christmas pennants (you can never have too many banners), mostly using reverse applique.
And, I made a Christmas present using reverse applique and two more of my embossed metal birds. I sewed it all onto heavy water color paper.
Here's a close up.
I'm also involved in a calendar project with my local Altered Sisters group. I have the months of January and September. My pages are below. Both of them are photos I took (the bird was in a tree in my backyard last winter; the pencils were photographed in a workshop I took) and have Photoshopped.
I love all of these....great job!

I love reverse applique, and your Christmas banner is wonderful!! I agree with you. One cannot have too many banners, and you've inspired me to make another one.

Fantastic calendar pages! I haven't started mine as I just can't seem to come up with an idea, even tho' I have an "easy" month. Hopefully your grand work will inspire me!

I think I am losing it! I totally missed this post, and I thought I had checked several times this week. Oh well! You know I love your reverse applique, and combined with the metal birds, it is quite stunning. Your calendar pages are so unique and artsy. Well done!

You have been way too busy for words, my friend -- and I love it all! (Sewn on watercolor paper with metal, too -- perfect!) I love how diverse all your work is!
But I ESPECIALLY love the three pennant flags that arrived in my mail box today! I simply squealed! Indeed, a random act of Christmas and one that will get prominent placement!
Tons of thanks and hugs!

Dear Joanne, This was one of those Mondays that I woke up uninspired and needing a project that did not involve sorting and tossing the overflow in my craft room. So I knew just where to turn. I love your banners. I have actually made one that I would like to rip apart and "Fix" but that is my own issue with collage and yesterday I made a December calendar. Your wonderful calendar have inspired me to make more. Miss seeing you!

I still can't believe how prolific you are... I love your reverse applique! I'm busy making scarves this week. I'm calling them "tattered layered scarves"..... I'm thinking that some cutting of the layers is in order...

Very nice pennants and wall hanging! So happy I am in your group! Love the embossed birdies also! Your calendar pages are lovely! You're always SO productive with your art projects! I was going to work on my banners tonight but I think I'll wait until in the morning when I'll have a bit more energy (hopefully!)
